Scope: complete tear-off of existing asphalt shingle roofing down to the existing ½" CDX plywood deck, followed by installation of a new CertainTeed Flintlastic GTA-FR CoolStar Ultra modified bitumen roofing system (glass base sheet over plywood, torch-applied modified bitumen cap). This is a change in roofing material from a steep-slope shingle system to a low-slope membrane system. The existing roof slope is 2:12, modified bitumen is the assembly for this low slope. The specified cap sheet is Class A fire-rated (ICC-ES ESR-1388) and meets California Title 24 low-slope cool-roof requirements (aged solar reflectance 0.68, thermal emittance 0.91, SRI 83). New roofing assembly weight is approximately 1.5 lbs/sq ft, lighter than the asphalt shingles being removed, no added structural load. |
