Work descriptionIn the Commission of Fine Arts jurisdiction area We propose to drill 2 Standard Penetration Testing borings in accordance with ASTM D-1586 using a trailer-mounted Mobile B-47 HD or a Geoprobe 7822 DT track mounted drill rig. We will be drilling using 3 ? inch ID, 7 5/8 inch OD hollow stem augers to drill the test borings (B-1 and B-2) to depths of approximately 40 feet. We will drill a test well boring (W-1) to a depth of 18 feet using 6 ? in ID, 10 inch OD hollow stem augers. For all 3 borings, the augers will, also, be the outer casing. We will sample every 5 feet driving a 2 inch outside diameter splitspoon sampler. We will drive the sampler in 3 successive 6 inch increments with a 140 pound hammer, free falling a distance of 30 inches. After drilling W-1 is complete, we will install a 4 inch diameter test well in boring W-1. The well will be constructed with 10 feet of 0.020 slot well screen and sufficient solid casing to extend approximately 2.5 to 3 feet above the ground surface. The well top will be secured with a locking friction plug. The annulus around the well will be backfilled with #1 Morie sand to a depth that is approximately 2 feet above the top of the screen. A 2 feet thick bentonite seal (bentonite pellets) will be installed above the sand. The remainder of the annulus will be filled with a bentonite slurry.
